This aim of this course is to deliver a sound understanding of taxation for various business structures within Jamaica.
Students will be exposed to the different types of taxes, rules, and regulations in Jamaican law.
At the end of this course, students will be able to apply these rules and regulations in calculating and presenting tax returns for different businesses in Jamaica:
- Outline the principles of a good taxation system, different tax structures and the purposes/ types of taxes in Jamaica.
- Describe the relevance of Income Tax Administration, including the duties and relationship of the TAAD with other Government Revenue Departments.
- Prepare taxation documentation for Companies, Charities, Associations, and other businesses.
- Describe International Trade Agreements and the tax issues related to global operations.
- Prepare General Consumption Tax documentation and display competency in its administration; computation and submission of GCT Returns.
